Gloves and Mitts Galore
They've become some of my favorite things to knit and here is proof.
Here's the promised picture of the fingerless mitts I made for Fawn out of my handdyed, handspun Superwash Merino. The pattern is from HelloYarn's Cable Twist sock pattern adapted by me using help from Anny's adaptation.
These are mittens I made for my daughter, Emily out of Cloud 9 which is 50/50 angora merino. They are soft and warm. And true to me, I couldn't leave the solid pink yarn alone and had to dye it with reds and magentas prior to knitting. The pattern is just a basic mitten pattern that doesn't follow any specific pattern; I just do my thing with hints from here and there.
These are i-cord gloves. I. LOVE. THEM. I didn't really care for the pain of knitting the i-cords so they took a while to finish the fingers. But once I started joining them all together they were true fun. My favorite part is the cute picot bind-off. Oh, and my other favorite part is the really cool joins that close all those finger gaps. Oh, and the yarn? That's some of my hand painted sock yarn. The shop that I dye for asked for a Valentine colorway so these gloves will probably become a shop sample at some point once we get the shop stocked with my yarns.
Wait! That's not gloves or mitts! Yep, it's a Sophie bag. Could it be any cuter? I love this pattern. It needed a little closure so I bought a pretty charm from the fabric store, attached some beads and waalaa, closure.
You might wonder about all those pinks, reds and purples. My favorite shop had a Valentine's Day fashion show so these items (plus a couple others) were all whipped up so that my daughters and I could model them in the show on Friday night. The show was a fundraiser for Silverton Together so the shop raised a few dollars while us knitters got to have our fun.
