purple socks and german cables

I went ahead and frogged the sock for my friend. She told me to keep the yarn and make something else. Now I am knitting socks in yarn I chose in a pattern I chose. Wayyyy better scenario. This is the first sock in progress in a gorgeous purple Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. Oh my goodness, have you tried this yarn?!? It's probably not the best option for socks since it's a little thick but it is so soft and luscious! This will not be the last pair I will knit with this yarn. I want a pair for myself and Daughter the Oldest has asked for a pair too. Spendy yarn so I'll have to stagger out the purchases. And a bonus, it comes in bunches of different colors! The pattern is Simply Lovely Lace Socks from Interweave Knits Spring 2006. The pattern is fun and so easy. I'm still having a little trouble translating patterns to Magic Loop when I get to the heel sometimes. I'm almost tempted to put the sock on DPNs at that point in order to follow the pattern instructions and then go back to Magic Loop after the gusset pickups. You'd think after 5 or 6 socks I'd have this down, but every pattern is different and I'm still a bit of a beginner.
Here's my other great find! I was at the second hand book store today and picked up this little booklet because I loved the lacey cable patterns. Unfortunately, I don't know how to translate the German. I still love the patterns and I may be able to find translations or figure out one or two that I really like. All of the stitch patterns have a chart so that should help. Here's a couple of the pretty pics.

I really want to try this one; I think it would make neat socks.
