My very own Flamingo Bag
Okay so I decided I need a drawstring bag with two compartments. I wanted to design my own since I'm sure there are others who would like this same type of bag. This Flamingo Bag is for me! The base is about 4 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches and probably only about 7 inches tall. I made the drawstrings quite short to that it won't hang down too far when it's on my wrist. I just love the two separate compartments so my spindle doesn't get caught up in my extra ball of roving. And you know you have to carry that extra ball of roving. I was spinning the other day while waiting for my kids and ran out of fiber and the wait suddenly got a whole lot longer!
This bag is just the right size for sock knitting. In my case it is the perfect size for my little Bosworth Midi spindle on one side and my ball of extra roving on the other side. Did you know that when you carry a spindle in a ziplock bag part of the spindle ends up on the outside of the bag? Darn pointy spindle! This bag is the perfect solution. This Flamingo Bag was sewn and resewn a few times since it's my prototype. I've already made another that is taller - about 11 inches - to accomodate a larger spindle. As I make more of these bags they will be for sale in my Etsy shop. The smaller sock knitting bags will also include a matching little zipper bag to carry those little things that like to roll around and get lost. The little zipper bag has a little loop on the side so that it can be attached by a little loop in the zipper bag. Wait and see ...you're gonna love this.
