finally some pictures
I've been doing a lot of dyeing in the past couple weeks. Tons of experimenting and learning and perfecting. I'll never be perfect but I am quite proud of these yarns. Without further ado ...here they are.
Here's a basket full of all the sock yarns for sale.
Oh, and here's a close up.
My introductory price is $16 per 375 yard skein (plus actual shipping cost). email me at quilts at cyberis dot net if you want one. In case you want a close up of any of them, I'll post additional pics below plus a couple feltable wool skeins (actually the 100% non-superwash sock yarns are feltable as well, but who felts sock yarn when you can make socks?).
Edited 5/17/06: In my haste (intense excitement to share) I totally spaced and put in some wrong information: specifically that some of these yarns are actually rated sport weight. I'll make the corrections in red below. (If anyone can tell me how to do those cool strikeouts in blogger please do share.)
Rainforest
This is my favorite in the basket. It looked like a total mess when I took it out of the pot. It's a gorgeous bunch of bright blues and greens with some dark purpley blue interspersed with a little white just to keep it glowing. I will definitely be trying to recreate this one.
content: 100% superwash merino 375 yards sport weight
gauge: 5-6 stitches per inch
needle size: US3-5
This is deep berry pinks, leafy greens and whites in 100% superwash merino. It is bright and cheerful. (BTW, what looks like red in the photo on my screen - yours could be different - is actually deep fuschia)
content: 100% superwash merino 375 yards sport weight
gauge: 5-6 stitches per inch
needle size: US3-5

Forest at Sunset
This one is really muted shades of greens with a little sky blue and toned violet. It's hard to explain and I think you either love it or hate it. I love it. But then, I love anything green.
content: 100% merino 375 yards fingering weight
gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
needle size: US1-3

Vineyard
My daughter called this one vineyard because of the grapey purples next to the leafy green. It also has some sky peeking through. I guess its a vineyard on a clear day.
content: 100% merino 375 yards fingering weight
gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
needle size: US1-3
Berries
375 yards of yarny goodness in this one. The colors are from blueberry to raspberry to loganberry to currant. (aka: fuschia, violet, sky blue, purple)
content: 100% merino 375 yards fingering weight
gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
needle size: US1-3
Cool Chambray
Lovely muted blues, greens and violets. If you like to wear blue jeans and t-shirts, this yarn will make the perfect socks to match.
content: 100% merino - 375 yards fingering weight
gauge: 7-8 stitches per inch
needle size: US1-3
Cotton Candy
Gorgeous! Bubblegum pinks with just a few shots of orange. Enough yardage to make a little felted accessory or to add stripes to a tote bag. This yarn felts nice and tight and the colorations keep it interesting. $6 plus shipping
content: 100% wool - 150 yards worsted weight
gauge: 4.5 stitches per inch
needle size: US7-9 (I used size 11 to make a felted object)
Purple Berry
Stupid name, I know, but it is what it is and you have to name them, right? This yarn is shades of violet and blues. $9 plus shipping
content: 100% wool - 220 yards worsted weight
gauge: 4.5 stitches per inch
needle size: US7-9 (I used size 11 to make a felted object)
