There are FOs here

I haven't blogged but I've been knitting like a crazy woman. My cousin and his wife are having twin girls in a few months so I made these adorable matching hats out of some handspun yarn I had waiting to be used. I have enough to do a little sweater or 3 or 4 more hats.

The yarn is a two ply with one ply being a nice softly spun Ramboulet and the other ply is 80/20 merino/silk that I dyed pink shades and spun a little tighter.

I also spun this very pretty red superwash merino to make fingerless mitts for my friend, Fawn. Here's the story: I was sitting next to Fawn knitting a swatch while waiting for our kids at a choir rehearsal when she quipped, "are you going to make me something cute?" I asked her what color she likes and she told me red. So I went home that Sunday and dyed red roving. By the next Sunday I had the yarn spun and by the Sunday after that the mitts were finished using this pattern a la Anny and Kathy for help and inspiration. Of course I had to adjust things a bit to accomodate my particular gauge. They are very warm and I plan to give them to her today at the kids' choir practice. (Blogger's done loading pics for now, so that will have to come later.)

Also in the works is this beautiful angora/merino that I spun up. I'm making it a three ply. Two plies are the pink angora/merino and the 3rd is a beaded silk thread making a light sport weight. It is absolutely gorgeous and soft and while the beading is tedious, the results are truly beautiful. I do plan to get some more of this roving from Bunny Gail so I can make more pretty yarn. The angora is fun and easy to spin. I brought home 20 more skeins of her 85/15 angora/merino sock yarn to dye and she'll trade my time for fiber if that's my choice.

Love those adorable hats. Maybe because they are for twins.
